Many young women today turn their backs on the institutions of representative democracy. So what democratic values, gender-political views and power potential do young women have? These are some of the main questions in this qualitative study of power and identity based on interviews with three groups of women around the age of 25:

-         Women from the left-radical milieu at Nørrebro in Copenhagen
-         Women from the ATTAC movement
-         Women who are not politically organized

The women’s formation of political identities is analyzed through these accounts. The analyses focus on, among other things, political learning in childhood and youth milieus, views on current democratic issues like solidarity and tolerance, and visions and dreams for the future.
