Greenlandic society has inherited some of its power structures from Danish colonialism. Other distinctive developments are a result of the fact that an Arctic regional economy is often dependent on public initiative in order to function. These conditions have a great impact on the mechanisms of a young Greenlandic democracy under Home Rule. The book, which is written by Greenlandic and Danish researchers, presents various problems and potentials as a contribution to the debate on democracy and power in Greenland: Greenlands democracy, Greenlands voters, Greenlands elite, the question of a new class in Greenland, public corporations, IT in Greenland, language problems and the role of science in Greenland. |
