”Djøfization” has been a frequent word in debates on public management in recent years. Members of DJØF (The Association of Danish Lawyers and Economists) typically work as generalist managers in the public sector. The claim is that these Djøf’ers are gradually replacing specialist managers in public management positions, and that they as a group represent a particular attitude that emphasizes efficiency, budget compliance, and quick readjustments, and that they influence the public sector in that direction. But do Djøf’ers in management positions really have different views on public sector development than other people in the same positions? The book studies managers in municipalities and counties, a growing number of which are Djøf’ers. The conclusion is that the Djøf’ers attitudes do not differ from the attitudes of managers with a different educational background in the same positions.
